Thunderbird Model News - 019 - New Johnny Lightning Issues

Greetings

Very quiet at the moment on the new release scene. So I am catching up on some of my backlog

Johnny Lightning

I have got hold of the elusive American Graffiti White Lightning 1956 car with White Interior. It is on a differently Numbered card !
http://www.tbirduk.com/html/jl_Graffiti.asp

The Original release had a Red Interior was numbered 425-00 and the White Lightning had words on the tyres and a red Interior with a white base. The White Interior car is numbered 425-01, I checked the JL web Site and they do list a Second Series!
Does anyone have Card # 425-01?
Please send a full description of car contained?
Presumably it is with white Interior and chrome wheels ?
Mine has White wheels so presumably it is a White Lightning ?

A blue Version of the Hot Rods "Bad Bird" has been released in a 4 Car set for Hot Rod Magazine.
This is a change from the pre announced 1958 in "Aston Martin Grey"

Don has informed me that Johnny Lightning have now confirmed that the Thunderbirds series 4 will NOT be released.

A 1961 Indy Pace Car in gold/white is due in May in the Classic Gold 2 - Release 18

A 1956 T-bird in Mandarin Orange is due in June in the JL Gold Series - Release 2
These will be in window Boxes rather than on Bubble cards so I guess a price hike is in the offing

ColorComp

The Master Collector struck again and kindly found me the Matchbox 1:63 1957 car for the Cruisin New England 2002 club meet. Picture is at

They also used the Hot Wheels 1963 Mould for the 2001 meeting

KidCo

I found another packaging variation of the 1957 "Dinky Airfix" mould, this time for the 1979 Release. Also a variation on the 1981 release where Manufacturing has moved to Macao from Hong Kong.

Ebay News

A Nice Lone Star 1955 went though in February http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?&item=3112834428 $178.50
.....................................................................................
The JL White Lightning Graffiti 1956 cars are still appearing :-
Release 1 are around $55, Series 2 are about $45
.....................................................................................
Matchbox #75's have appeared including a couple of rare ones :-
A Black Wheel, Black Base version in England went for $245

How much this Matchbox #75 Bottle green base in Australia will go for could be interesting, but I think his opening price ($176) may be overoptimistic
 .......................................................................................
Talking of over optimism, $400 for the Brooklin 40th Anniversary set anybody ?
.......................................................................................
And Yes, I did make a stunning profit on selling the Chevy 57 out of the Matchbox Railroad set !
I paid $25 for the 2 cars (shipped) from the US and now Chevy is heading back on it's 4th Transatlantic crossing in 3 months (must be a high mileage auto by now)

At least the profit helped pay for a nice Red Birdnest Brooklin ..........................................................................................
By the way there's a wonderful Light Green 1957 1:43 ERTL out of the MTH railway set up for grabs if you don't want to buy the whole set
